Reconciles this branch with the POSIX single-quoting change to
quoteCommandArg that landed on main in 490dcfd6 (PR #533, issue #476)
after this PR's last CI run. The merge itself is textually clean; the
semantic conflicts are in tests/hook.test.mjs expectations and are
resolved in the follow-up commit. No production logic changes here.
