cmd_work tolerates explicit "authors": null (and non-dict entries) via
(data.get("authors") or []) guarded iteration, returning an empty array
instead of raising TypeError. cmd_isbn --json now emits authors as an
array of bare OLA keys matching `work --json` under the same field:
the edition path uses tolerant key extraction (flat refs, stray
double-nested refs), dedupes, and falls back to the linked work's
double-nested author keys when the edition ships none; publishers
likewise become a real list. Human output still renders comma-joined
labels. Refreshes the recipe gotcha note that still described the old
raw-curl work-record shape.

Adds mocked coverage: null-author work record (JSON [] + human '?'),
cross-command symmetric author arrays, tolerant edition key-only and
mixed-shape refs, ISBN handoff type stability, human label rendering,
and label-vs-key separation on mixed records.

Installation

skills CLI (cross-harness)

The fastest portable route is the open skills CLI. The flat top-level skill layout works without a skills.sh-specific manifest, so every skill — including the bundle umbrellas — is discovered at the top level.

--skill matches the name in a skill's SKILL.md; use the names returned by --list. All skills, including the bundle umbrellas, are discovered by default at the top level.

For Hermes Agent, keep --global: the CLI then installs directly into $HERMES_HOME/skills/ (normally ~/.hermes/skills/), which Hermes loads natively. The CLI's project-scoped .hermes/skills/ target is not auto-discovered by Hermes.

The skills.sh catalog page is populated from installation telemetry rather than a separately submitted registry manifest.

Harness-native installation

Skills don't require installation in the traditional sense. They are loaded by your AI agent when triggered. Each agent framework documents its own skill directory path and loading mechanism — follow the links below for the authoritative setup guide for your harness.

Claude Code

This repository ships a Claude Code plugin marketplace. Add it once, then install any skill as a plugin:

Every top-level skill and bundle is listed in .claude-plugin/marketplace.json. Installed skills are namespaced by plugin name (for example, /cli-builder:cli-builder). To update after the repository changes, run /plugin marketplace update magnus-agent-skills.

Hermes Agent

Two options depending on whether you want the whole catalog or individual skills.

Mount the entire repository — point Hermes at your local checkout in ~/.hermes/config.yaml:

Every skill in the repository becomes available immediately (next session). Edits in the checkout are picked up without reinstalling. Paths support ~ and ${VAR} expansion.

Install individual skills — add the repository as a tap, then cherry-pick:

Tap skills install into ~/.hermes/skills/ like any other hub skill. Use hermes skills check to see when updates are available.

OpenAI Codex

This repository ships a Codex plugin. Add the marketplace and install:

All public skills are bundled in a single plugin. Codex discovers them from the skills array in .codex-plugin/plugin.json.

Local/repo-scoped install (for contributors or single-skill use):

Codex scans .agents/skills/ in every directory from cwd up to the repo root.

Generic / Other Frameworks

The agentskills.io clients page maintains an up-to-date list of every agent framework that supports the Agent Skills format, with links to each one's setup instructions. Any framework listed there can load these skills — follow that framework's specific documentation for the correct directory path and loading mechanism.

For frameworks without built-in skill loading, the format is intentionally simple:

  1. Place the skill directory in your agent's accessible file path
  2. The agent reads SKILL.md when triggered by keywords in the task
  3. Supporting files in references/, templates/, and scripts/ are loaded on demand

You can also instruct your agent to read specific SKILL.md files at session start, or reference skills in your agent's system prompt or CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md.

Skills follow the Agent Skills specification. See CONTRIBUTING.md for the contributor workflow, the Code of Conduct for community expectations, and AGENTS.md for agent-specific loading and compliance guidance.

Before submitting a new skill:

  1. Ensure SKILL.md has valid YAML frontmatter (required: name, description)
  2. The name field must match the parent directory name
  3. Keep SKILL.md under 500 lines and 5,000 tokens
  4. Move detailed reference material to references/ for progressive disclosure
  5. Run the canonical-skill validator: ruby scripts/validate-skills.rb (vendored agent-council/profiles/skills/ content is intentionally excluded)
  6. Validate with skills-ref validate ./my-skill if available
